A few years ago at a North Carolina Writers Network conference, someone in the audience asked Lee Smith if she was ever torn between working on a novel she was writing and reading someone else’s.
Her answer: All the time. Because reading and writing are inextricably linked. Good writing inspires us and bad writing teaches us. I agree, and that’s why I want this site to be a place where you and I can talk about both.
So, from time to time, I’ll share where I am in my writing process, give you a few samples, and then listen to your comments and suggestions. Likewise, I’ll talk about the books and ideas that have an impact on my understanding of the world and how it affects my writing.
